Steve Welch is running for Congress to bring back proven principles to confront the new challenges we face. He believes the Republican Party’s values of a limited, responsible government and personal responsibility will restore our economy. We must ensure that the United States remains the beacon of hope for all.
Steve grew up in Chester County and attended local public schools. He graduated from Penn State University with a degree in mechanical engineering. Steve went on to create the Mitos Group and developed six patents that helped leading biotech companies. His achievements allowed important local employers such as Merck, GlaxoSmithKline, Wyeth and others to get vital medicines and vaccines into the hands of doctors and patients more quickly at a smaller cost.
Steve’s companies created over 40 well-paying jobs in our region while providing his employees with full health insurance coverage. Even in the tough years as he built his company up, Steve honored this commitment to his employees.
In 2007, Steve sold the Mitos Group of companies to Parker Hannifin, a Fortune 500 company. Steve wanted to continue applying his energy and enthusiasm by helping other local small start-ups reach the American dream.
With this concept in mind, Steve co-founded DreamIt Ventures, a company that provides aspiring business-owners with funding, donated services from leading law and accounting firms, mentoring from seasoned entrepreneurs, and a creative environment to bring their innovative business ideas to market. In its short history, DreamIt Ventures has helped nearly 100 entrepreneurs and small business owners pursue their own American dream.
Steve was recognized as the 2008 Philadelphia Business Journal’s Entrepreneur of the Year as well as a member of its “40 under 40.” Most recently, Steve was also awarded the prestigious Eisenhower Fellowship to build bridges internationally in small business communities to drive job creation and economic development.
Steve now wants to take his business experience, optimism and civic commitment to Washington, DC to help restore our principles so we can revive the American Dream.
