As we go about our lives in today’s modern world, we’re bombarded each day with the opinion that optimism in America is dead. In fact, our great nation faces many challenges, but I remain very optimistic that our brightest days are still ahead.

Past American generations have faced similar, and in many cases, far more difficult struggles than we encounter today. It is in their spirit that we must be thankful for all we have been given these past years.

This year, as we gather around our family tables to carry on this distinctly American tradition of Thanksgiving, we give thanks for our loved ones, for the great memories of those we’ve lost and we look forward to a more prosperous road ahead.

I believe this 21st century can be another great American century in which we inspire the world with our commitment to economic freedom and prosperity. I’m convinced that this century can, and will, deliver on the promise of a thriving tomorrow for our children and our grandchildren.

As we celebrate America’s 148th Thanksgiving Day, I hope that you might express your thanks in the place and way of your choosing, while sharing in the company of those you most enjoy.
