 Welch Announces Wayne Woodman as

Eastern PA Finance Co-Chairman

The Welch Campaign continues to gain momentum

heading into the New Year

Paoli, PA – Today Steve Welch announced Wayne Woodman as the campaign’s Eastern PA Finance Co-Chairman.

Mr. Woodman commented: “Over the past several years I have had an opportunity to get to know Steve and learn how deeply concerned he is about the direction that this country is going.  Steve started his first business at 23 and turned that business into a global company.  Through that process he saw how difficult it is to start a company.  This process has become even more difficult over the past few years as the Federal Government has been centralizing power in Washington.  We need job creators in Washington that understand the challenges that face every small business in Pennsylvania day in and day out; after all they are the backbones of this economy.”

“Steve is an entrepreneur who will be a leader in the Senate.  Senator Casey has been a cheerleader for all the failed policies of this administration and done nothing to get this economy back on track.  I know that Steve is the best candidate to defeat Senator Casey in 2012.”

Mr. Welch added: “I am delighted to have Chairman Woodman as a part of the team.  Wayne has been a part of the resurgence of the Republican Party in Pennsylvania and is an example of the type of person we need to be involved to get our country pointing back in the right direction.  I am excited to have him on the team.”

About Wayne Woodman:

-  Hosted successful fundraisers for both Congressman Dent and Senator Toomey

-  Currently Lehigh County GOP Chairman

-  EA Invest: Board of Directors, 2002 – 2003

Served on the board of a start-up online brokerage

- Los Angeles Business Council: Board Member, 2002-2003

Served on the board of this policy group and civic organization

-  Allentown Jewish Community Center: Board Member, 2007-Present

Serving on board for local community center in midst of financial restructuring and operational turnaround

- American Associates of Ben Gurion University: Board Member, 2007-Present

Philadelphia City Commissioner-Elect Al Schmidt

Backs Steve Welch for U.S. Senate

Pennsylvania deserves a Senator who will offer real solutions,

not be a “yes” man for Barack Obama

Paoli, PA – Today US Senate Candidate Steve Welch announced the backing of Philadelphia City Commissioner-Elect Al Schmidt.

Al Schmidt recently won election as a Philadelphia City Commissioner and will be sworn in in January.  Previously, Schmidt served as Executive Director of the Republican City Committee of Philadelphia and as Senior Advisor for Philadelphia for the Pennsylvania Republican Party.

Schmidt said “The people of Pennsylvania will be well served by having Steve Welch as their U.S.  Senator. Steve will bring real solutions to getting this economy back on track.  He will bring an understanding of what it takes to create jobs, which is desperately needed in today’s economy. “Unlike our current Senator, Steve will work to create an environment that is friendly to our small businesses.  The City of Philadelphia has an unemployment rate that has hovered around 11% for far too long. This city needs a Senator who will focus on creating jobs and not be a rubber stamp for every failed policy the Obama Administration puts forth.”

Steve Welch added: “I am proud to have Al Schmidt on our team.  We need leaders like Al who are willing to put the people of Philadelphia in front of political expediency.   He campaigned on a message of fiscal discipline that resonated across party lines.  This is the same message I will deliver to Washington.”

Welch Announces Jeff Kendall as Western PA Finance Co-Chairman

The strength of the Welch campaign continues to grow statewide

Paoli, PA – Today, Steve Welch announced Jeff Kendall as the campaign’s Western PA Finance Co-Chairman.

Mr. Kendall commented: “I first met Steve Welch a few months ago when he visited Pittsburgh.  It was then that I learned about how he started his first business at 23 with hardly a cent to his name.  Since then I have spoken with Steve numerous times and have gotten to know the type of person he is and why he is running.  Steve has had a chance to live the American Dream and is getting involved to ensure that both his children and mine have that same opportunity.  That is the type of person we need in the US Senate today.”

“Steve knows what it takes to get a company off the ground and create jobs.  Having people in Washington who have had those types of life experiences is needed today. There are too many career politicians and too few people who understand how the regulations that are coming out of Washington today are negatively affecting the entrepreneurs, the innovators, and the small businesses of Pennsylvania. Steve understands both what it takes to get this economy growing again while establishing a budget that doesn’t sacrifice our future.  Steve will make a great Senator and will be a leader on the issues that matter most to the people of Pennsylvania.”

Mr. Welch added: “I am honored to have Jeff Kendall join our growing team. Jeff performed exceedingly well within his roles on both Senator Toomey’s 2010 campaign for U.S. Senate and Keith Rothfus’s campaign for Congress in the same cycle.  Jeff cares deeply about the direction of our state and our country. We are thrilled that he has taken on a leadership role within our growing organization in Western Pennsylvania.”

About Jeff Kendall:

- CEO of Liberty Tire Recycling,  LLC.

-  In this capacity he has managed the acquisition, permitting, development and operation of over 100 scrap tire recycling and solid waste operations of all types, including landfills, hauling companies, and transfer stations.

-  2011 finalist for CEO of the Year – The Pittsburgh Technology Council’s Tech 50 Awards.

- 2010 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year award finalist – Western Pennsylvania and West Virginia region.

-  Mr. Kendall received his law degree from the University of Pittsburgh, graduating magna cum laude

-  He also received his master’s degree from Cornell University and his BA from Penn State University.

-  Hosted successful fundraising events in 2010 for Keith Rothfus for Congress and Senator Toomey

About Steve

The son of an engineer and teacher, Steve Welch grew up in Chester County, Pennsylvania and attended Penn State University where he earned a Mechanical Engineering degree.  Steve, his wife Nicole, and their three young children live in Chester County.  Steve started his first major business enterprise, Mitos, in 2001 with hardly a cent to his name.  Under Steve’s guidance Mitos developed several critical patents which transformed the biological drug and vaccine industries.  The company still resides in Phoenixville, PA under Parker Hannifin guidance.  Following the sale of Mitos, Steve co-founded DreamIt Ventures, a new business accelerator model that has been featured in Forbes, USA Today, and The Wall Street Journal as a new model for launching technology companies.  In just four years, DreamIt Ventures has helped launch 64 new companies.  From this experience, Steve has worked with hundreds of early stage entrepreneurs to turn their dreams into reality.  As an Eisenhower Fellow, Steve spent time in Asia and Europe studying all aspects of economic development, examining how government policy, technology, and culture impact job creation.  In 2010, Steve published We are all Born Entrepreneurs, in which he uses his story and those of over a dozen other entrepreneurs to explain what drives invention, innovation, and job creation.  In 2011, he founded the education technology company KinderTown, a business designed to help parents engage in their children’s education at an early age.

 Welch Announces Grassroots Advisory Board

“I am humbled to have the support of these citizens who are deeply concerned about the future of our country”

Paoli, PA – Today, Steve Welch announced the formation of a Grassroots Advisory Board made up of conservative grassroots activists from across the Commonwealth.  The members of the board released the following statements:

Rich Davis, Chester County Sheepdogs – “Welch gets our values, Welch gets our mission. Welch gets it.”

Sean Carpenter, Pennsylvania Conservative Council: “I’m glad to be a member of Steve Welch’s Grassroots Advisory Board. I have gotten to know Steve well over the past few years, and I think people with his background as an entrepreneur are sorely needed in the Senate.”

Karl Bucus, PA Watercooler – “Steve Welch is not a career politician; he is just a regular citizen with impressive private-sector experience. I am happy his voice will help steer the conversation on how best to replace Bob Casey.”

Barry Papiernik, Host of Live and Local, WFYL, Montgomery County: “We need people with Steve Welch’s ideals and commitment to liberty representing Pennsylvania in the Senate and working to turn back the radical policies of Barack Obama.”

Lisa Mossie, Co-Host of Live and Local, WFYL Montgomery County: “Bob Casey was peddling the liberal agenda before Barack Obama ever got to the White House. No more political insiders. We need conservatives with real world experience like Steve Welch in the Senate.”

Ethan Demme, Chairman Lancaster County GOP:  “I have had the opportunity to meet with many of the candidates who are looking to be the Republican Nominee against Senator Casey next year. I believe they are all very good individuals.  However, after meeting Steve a number of times and listening to what he believes on a number of issues I feel Steve is the best person to join our other great Senator Pat Toomey in Washington.”

“Steve has the background as an entrepreneur that is lacking in Washington.  He understands what it takes to create jobs and how damaging the policies that are coming out of Washington now are to businesses right here in Lancaster County.  Steve will be a genuine leader, not a follower who votes with President Obama 98% of the time like Bob Casey does.”

Steve Welch added: “As I’ve travelled the state, I’ve seen how much the grassroots in Pennsylvania are ready to defeat the Obama-Casey Agenda in 2012.  Seeing these citizens get involved inspires me and keeps me energized.  I am humbled to have their support and continue to be encouraged by the response  to my message of fiscal responsibility, smaller  government, and doing the things necessary to get this economy back on track.”

Casey Found Something He Doesn’t Agree With Obama On:

Spending Time With Him In Scranton

Senator Casey is trying to hide from President Obama

now that his 98% voting record with him has been exposed

Paoli, PA – Today, Senator Casey’s spokeswoman told POLITICO that “Casey’s attendance is “unlikely,” when President Obama visits his hometown of Scranton, PA tomorrow. Peter Towey, spokesman for the Welch for Senate campaign, issued the following statement:

“Now that Senator Casey’s voting record has been exposed by our most recent campaign video, he is trying to distance himself from the President. Senator Casey is going to have to run a lot further then Washington to hide the fact he has voted with the Obama Administration 98% of the time. Senator Casey has been a cheerleader for the worst of this President’s agenda. He supported the stimulus, all the bailouts, and ObamaCare. Senator Casey needs to explain to the people of Pennsylvania why he has been a rubber stamp for all the failed policies of this administration.”

Background Information:

Here is the video that was released yesterday that has put Casey’s 98% voting record front and center.

Welch Release’s New Video: Barack Obama & Bob Casey

Separated at Birth

While this video may be laughable at moments,

Senator Casey’s voting record is not a laughing matter.

Paoli, PA – Today, Candidate for US Senate in Pennsylvania Steve Welch released the following video highlighting Senator Casey’s record of voting with President Obama 98% of the time. The video highlights how close two may actually be.

Mr. Welch added: “Senator Casey has been a rubber stamp for every failed policy the Obama Administration has put forward.  While this video may be laughable at times, Senator Casey’s voting record is no laughing matter.  Senator Casey supported the stimulus, the bailouts, ObamaCare, and thousands of new regulations, all of which have kept our economy from getting back on track.”

Video Transcript:

Host on Camera:

Tonight, we investigate the very real story of two men, bonded by remarkable coincidences, identical traits, and bizarre similarities.   We will explore the mountains of evidence and talk to renowned experts who believe it’s quite possible that Pennsylvania Senator Bob Casey and President Barrack Obama…somehow, were separated at birth?

Host:  Voice Only:

Our investigation begins in the sleepy college town of Lauderville, Pennsylvania, and the work of respected Behavioral Scientist, Arthur Herbenstein.

Host:

Dr. Herbenstein, you’ve spent years studying the unique relationship of these two men.  What have you found?

Dr. Herbenstein:

The eerie similarities of Obama and Casey is the kind of phenomenon you typically only see from identical twins.   The most obvious is the fact that both men, although raised far apart, ended up in the very same place at the very same time as politicians in Washington… both Democrats… both liberals.

Host:

But that’s the beginning?

Dr Herbenstein:

Correct.  What I found most intriguing is their uncanny ability to show up dressed… almost identically.  You can see for yourself.  The probability that two individuals would so consistently demonstrate such exact fashion tastes, at precisely the same moment, day in day out suggest something more than coincidence.

Host:

An almost impossible coincidence…or something much more.  For the answer to that we travelled to the Broadhurst Institute of Technology, and the office of probability expert…Dr. Milo Kamderman.

Host:

Dr. Kamberman, you’re considered a statistics expert… is that correct?

Dr. Kamberman:

Yes, specifically in the science of random chance.

Host:

Has your research into the Casey Obama connection led you to any conclusions?  And in your opinion is it possible they were separated at birth?

Dr. Kamberman:

I wouldn’t say possible…I would say probable.  The breakthrough came after an exhaustive examination of Casey’s and Obama’s voting record.

Host:

A lot of votes?

Dr. Kamberman:

Hundreds.   Making it statistically valid beyond reproach. And the data couldn’t be more clear.

In vote after vote after vote, you would thing they are the very same person.  In fact, Casey has voted with Obama 98% of the time.

Host:

Dr., just how rare is it for people to agree 98% of the time.

Dr. Kamberman:

Rare. Extremely rare.  People don’t even agree with their spouses that often. Yet Casey and Obama are the exact same on the failed stimulus, the bailout, the reckless budgets, Obamacare, raising the debt limit, you name it.   It’s almost like they are one person.

Host:

Is it possible Casey has some unconscious desire to become one person with Obama, and somehow morph together.  A very real possibility when taken in context with Casey’s own words from an appearance on Meet the Press:

“When you have two politicians in Washington that agree 98% of the time, one of them is really not necessary.”

Host:

To learn more possible this possibility we turned to body language expert Melinda Faraday.

Host:

Ms. Faraday, when you look at these two politicians, do you see too colleagues who just think and act the same, or is there something deeper?

Melinda Faraday:

The touching and the hugging, much more than you would ever see by just two colleagues.

Host:

But you think something else is also going on…is that correct?

Melinda Faraday:

Yes.  If you look a little deeper at the photos I think it becomes quite clear that Casey is actually trying to mimic Obama, just like one brother may another to receive his respect.

For example, Casey has taken up all of Obama’s favorite actitivities…dancing, bowling, even karaoke.

Or in this photo you see Casey longingly starring at Obama’s buttery waffles.  Unfortunately, Casey’s fruit plate selection has made him different than Obama.  A photo taken moments later shows the fruit is gone, and has been replaced with an order of butter pancakes.  It’s very telling.

Host:

Buttery pancakes, dressing alike, and voting together 98% of the time.   Now you know why experts and people all across Pennsylvania think Bob Casey and Barrack Obama must have been separated at birth.  Goodnight.

“It’s no joke, Bob Casey has actually voted with Barack Obama’s big taxing, reckless spending agenda ninety-eight percent of the time.

Now it’s time for Pennsylvania to fighting back by supporting Republican Steve Welch.

Steve is a successful entrepreneur and job creator, not another career politician.

Steve believes in lower taxes, less spending and more freedoms for our families.

Welch Applauds Senator Toomey for his efforts on the Super Committee

November 21, 2011

Paoli, PA – Today the Super Committee announced that they failed to reach an agreement by their deadline.  Candidate for US Senate Steve Welch offered the following statement:

“The failure of the Super Committee to reach an agreement is another example of how the trio of Obama, Casey, and Reid lack the fortitude to seriously take on the out of control spending problem that is going on in Washington.  They insisted that there be a trillion dollar tax increase on the American people.  The American people are already taxed enough.”

“Senator Toomey offered a solution that was based around pro-growth tax reform to get this economy back on track.  Senator Toomey should be applauded for his leadership during the Super Committee talks.  Pat continues to make the people of Pennsylvania proud of the work he is doing.”

Welch applauds Supreme Court for announcing the review of ObamaCare

November 14, 2011

Paoli, PA – Today the Supreme Court announced that it will hear a challenge to President Obama & Senator Casey’s healthcare takeover. Steve Welch, candidate for US Senate, issued the following statement applauding the Court:

“This is a great first step in repealing the takeover over of our healthcare system that was championed by Bob Casey. ObamaCare is a massive regulation that was forced upon the American people, and is a major factor in hindering job creation.”

Mr. Welch added:

“It is important to remember that while the US medical system can certainly be improved, it has had a tremendous impact on the quality of life for Americans over the last century. The average life expectancy in 1900 was 49 years, today it is almost 80.”

“ObamaCare is not only bad health police, it is bad economic policy. It has created so much uncertainty for our business owners and job creators that they are not investing back into their businesses. In addition, it’s clear that it is only going to increase healthcare costs in our country, which are making American companies less competitive in the global environment.”

“We need health care reform that focuses on addressing health care costs.”

1) Create a competitive marketplace where insurance companies and medical practitioners have to compete to win patients’ business.

2) Introduce real tort reform which will reduce the cost of defensive medicine, while at the same time reducing insurance costs paid by doctors and hospitals.

3) Give individuals and small businesses the same health insurance tax treatment that large corporations have.

ICYMI: Welch Releases New Web Video Welch Fires 2012 Opening Salvo

November 11, 2011

Paoli, PA – Yesterday, U.S. Senate Candidate Steve Welch Released a new web video. Coverage from PoliticsPA.com described the video as the Opening Salvo in the 2012 campaign.

Text of the article:

Welch Fires 2012 Opening Salvo

By Keegan Gibson, Managing Editor

11/10/11

The 2011 races are over, and the 2012 cycle has begun.

Steve Welch, the biotech entrepreneur and former congressional candidate, has launched the first attack of the new cycle – a web video that highlights United States Senator Bob Casey’s close ties to President Barack Obama.

Welch himself narrates the ad, which begins with the assertion that Casey has sided with Obama at a 98 percent voting clip – including his support for the Affordable Care Act, the 2009 stimulus package and “every government regulation that is interfering with job creation.”  He proceeds to point out that the federal government has grown 46 percent and unemployment has nearly doubled “since Bob Casey has been in office.”

The spot then pivots somewhat positively, as Welch emphasizes the need to send “ordinary Americans that actually have experience creating jobs” to Washington.  “And I assure you, once we get the government out of our job creation, once we get the government out of our businesses, we will see American innovators, American entrepreneurs thrive once again and we will continue to see this economy boom,” he says.

The nature of Welch’s opening salvo is no surprise given the Chester County entrepreneur’s background and President Obama’s sagging popularity in the Keystone State.

For months, strategists associated with Welch have described him as an ideal foil for Casey, given his business acumen, experiences creating jobs and ability to portray himself as a political outsider.

Welch’s personal wealth – he contributed roughly $650,000 to two aborted Congressional bids during the 2010 cycle and has expressed a willingness to invest in this race as well – could also be a factor as the race’s various factions pick up steam.

According to a Quinnipiac poll released on Thursday, roughly half of Pennsylvania voters disapprove of President Obama’s job performance (52 percent – 44 percent) and believe he does not deserve reelection (50 percent – 46 percent).  Roughly the same percentage of respondents (53 percent) named the economy the most significant issue heading into the 2012 cycle.
