ICYMI: Welch earns Bradford County endorsements

Support further proves Welch’s state-wide support and appeal

Towanda, PA – Yesterday, Republican endorsed Senate candidate Steve Welch received the endorsement of Bradford County Commissioners Doug McLinko and Daryl Miller and Bradford County Republican Chairman Eric Matthews. These endorsements further add to Welch’s vast statewide appeal as the Republican candidate to run against the liberal Bob Casey.

“Steve is just the type of person we need in Washington today,” said Daryl Miller. “The chance for future generations to have their version of the American Dream is being threatened and we need leaders in Washington that will fight to get this economy going again. The economy is the most important issue for everyone today and Senator Casey has shown that he is not a leader when it comes to getting this economy going again.”

Commissioner Doug McLinko knows that Pennsylvanians deserve a fiscally responsible leader who will work to rein in this nation’s out-of-control Casey-Obama spending agenda.

“Steve’s background as an entrepreneur is just what is needed today,” McLinko said. “He understands what it takes to make a budget and stick to it. The current spending levels in Washington today are not sustainable. Steve understands that we need to rein in the size of our federal government and make the tough decisions to show the American people and the world that we are committed to getting our fiscal house in order.”

Bradford County Republican Chairman Eric Matthews echoed the sentiments of McLinko and Miller and knows that Casey has only continued to remain in lock-step with the Obama spending agenda as Pennsylvanians are demanding a change.

“Steve Welch isn’t a career politician,” Matthews said. “He’s a businessman who knows how to create jobs and get Pennsylvanians back to work. We can’t afford four more years of President Obama and we definitely can’t afford six more years of Senator Bob Casey. Steve Welch embodies the type of leadership we need in the U.S. Senate.”

Upon receiving the endorsements, Welch commented: “I am glad to receive the endorsement of Commissioners McLinko and Miller and Chairman Matthews,” said Republican endorsed Senate candidate Steve Welch. “The people of Bradford County know we cannot afford the Obama lock-step liberal in Bob Casey. When elected to the Senate, I will create pro-growth policies that will restore long-term economic growth and create jobs for Pennsylvanians, many of them here in Bradford County.”

Cambria County Commissioners Endorse Steve Welch

Welch’s support in Western Pennsylvania continues to expand

Ebensburg, PA – Today at the Cambria County Courthouse the two Republican County Commissioners Doug Lengenfelder and Mark Wissinger endorsed Steve Welch for United States Senate.  Local County Commissioners are well respected within their communities and are highly sought after endorsements.  Having the support of these County Commissioners gives the Welch campaign a foothold in Western PA.

Mr. Lengenfelder & Wissinger commented: “The people of Cambria County are worried about the economy and Senator Casey has failed to be a leader in the Senate when it comes to getting this economy going again. Since Senator Casey was elected Pennsylvania’s unemployment rate has risen 81%, our federal budget deficit has grown 700%, and our national debt has risen 77%.  The people of Pennsylvania deserve better.”

“We need people like Steve Welch in Washington today. There are far too many career politicians and not enough people that understand the economy from the ground up.  Steve has been part of creating over 50 companies in the past few years and understands exactly how damaging the policies coming out of Washington today are for our small business community.  His business acumen is just what we need today.  Steve is prolife, pro-family and pro Second Amendment.  Steve will be a leader that not only the people of Cambria County will be proud of, but all of Pennsylvania will be proud of.”

Mr. Welch added: “I am honored to have the endorsement of these two great leaders here in Cambria County.  They are people who care about the future of this country and they see that the Obama-Casey agenda has failed.  Doug and Mark will help win the hearts and minds of voters in Cambria County to bring them into our cause of fighting for a smaller, more limited and more fiscally responsible federal government.  I look forward to campaigning with Doug and Mark in the coming months.”

Three Years Later Does Bob Casey Still Believe the Stimulus Package was Good for Pennsylvania

Three Years Later Does Bob Casey Still Believe the Stimulus Package was Good for Pennsylvania

The Obama-Casey massive spending program has failed to deliver

Paoli, PA —On the third anniversary of the Casey-Obama $825 billion stimulus package passage, it is clear the stimulus plan failed to put Pennsylvanians back to work and has left many still unemployed and left with the tab.

“Casey’s stimulus package failed to create the promised jobs and provide the necessary boost to our economy,” Republican endorsed Senate candidate Steve Welch said. “Rather than put Pennsylvanians back to work, this failed stimulus just added nearly $1 trillion to the debt while Pennsylvania’s unemployment rate still remains unbearably high.”

In 2009, Bob Casey called the stimulus package “good for Pennsylvania” and that the stimulus “would help get the economy out of the ditch.” In January 2009, before the stimulus passed, unemployment in Pennsylvania was 6.8%. Today with Pennsylvania’s unemployment rate still high at 7.6% percent, many are left wondering how Casey’s stimulus package has been good for Pennsylvania.

Just three short years later, Casey’s promises and $825 trillion spending sprees have failed to deliver, leaving Pennsylvania with a higher unemployment rate than three years ago. Even as Pennsylvanians are demanding a fiscally responsible government and an end to this reckless spending, Obama has requested nearly $400 billion in new stimulus spending and new taxes in his budget.

“This out-of-control and reckless spending addiction must end,” Welch said. “Bob Casey seems to think the only way to grow the economy is to spend billions of taxpayer’s dollars. It’s clear that this tax and spend agenda does not create the long-term economic growth that Bob Casey had promised. Rather than throw taxpayer dollars down the drain, I will promote pro-growth policies that cut spending, control our debt and deficit and end burdensome regulations that are hindering job growth and dragging down the economy.”

Obama’s FY 2013 budget: Massive tax increases and billions in new spending

Obama’s FY 2013 budget: Massive tax increases and billions in new spending

Budget lacks commonsense, pro-growth policies to spur economic growth and create American jobs

Paoli, PA — Today President Obama released his fiscal year 2013 budget recommendation to Congress.  Unfortunately, this budget is no break from what has become normal for Washington: more taxes, more spending, bigger government, and unsustainable debt. Despite the American people’s call for a change in course, Obama has returned to the same failed policies that have been the cornerstone of his presidency and liberal Sen. Bob Casey’s Congress.

Despite an ever-increasing deficit, the President’s budget actually increases the deficit to $1.33 trillion and does little to address the nation’s rising $15 trillion national debt. Debts and deficits that high will only continue to act as an anchor that drags down America’s economy and impedes economic growth.

Even though the Senate rejected Obama’s nearly $500 billion in additional stimulus spending at the end of last year, Obama again requested $300 billion in new stimulus money despite $787 billion of taxpayer dollars already spent on failed stimulus projects.

With thousands of people out of work and with the economy struggling to regain strength, the last thing Americans can afford is higher spending and higher taxes. Unfortunately, Obama’s agenda pursues the exact opposite and calls for increased taxes on job-creators, many of whom are Pennsylvania’s small-business owners, the lifeblood of the American economy.

Even in looking to protect future generations, Obama fails to propose entitlement reforms to Medicare and Social Security. Rather he leaves those programs on the same unsustainable path toward total bankruptcy.

This bloated budget, filled with budget gimmicks and accounting tricks, places increased burdens on Pennsylvania’s families, small business owners and follows the same failed economic policies that have continually marked Obama’s presidency and Casey’s Congress. Pennsylvanians can’t afford more of the same in out-of-control government spending, burdensome federal regulations and increased taxes.

“I am disappointed the President’s budget increases the deficit, raises taxes and does little to address our $15 trillion national debt,” said Republican endorsed Senate candidate Steve Welch. “The president’s budget just recycles the same failed fiscal agenda that includes billions in new stimulus spending and massive tax hikes that will only further burden Pennsylvania’s job creators. For our economy to prosper, our government must restore fiscal responsibility to Washington through a balanced budget, tax reform and the repeal of burdensome regulations that hinder economic and job growth.”

Casey fought hard for ObamaCare but will not fight hard to repeal the preventative services mandate

Casey fought hard for ObamaCare but will not fight hard to repeal the preventative services mandate

Bob Casey continues to ignore the wishes of his constituents and refuses to co-sponsor legislation to repeal the preventative services mandate

Paloi, pa — With the liberal Sen. Bob Casey fully backing and voting for ObamaCare, it should come as no surprise that he continues to remain in lock-step with Obama and refuses to co-sponsor bipartisan legislation that would repeal the preventative services mandate.

When Casey rubberstamped ObamaCare through the Senate, he ignored Pennsylvanians’ wishes and passed a law with skyrocketing costs that is riddled with onerous federal mandates and sweeping increases in the size and scope of the federal government.

Casey not only rubberstamped ObamaCare through Congress, but he also said on Dec. 7, 2009 “… I want to get health-care legislation passed. No one in the Senate has worked harder than I have to get this done.”

Now as the Obama administration implements ObamaCare, which includes the preventative services mandate, Pennsylvanians are calling for the repeal of a mandate that threatens religious liberties and forces religious institutions to violate the tenets of their faith.

Instead of listening to his constituents and pushing for a full repeal, what does Bob Casey do? He falls right back in line with Obama, just as he did when he passed ObamaCare.

Bob Casey worked hard to get ObamaCare rammed through Congress and he is refusing to work to repeal this dangerous overreach of federal power repealed. Instead of supporting bipartisan legislation that would fully repeal the preventative services mandate, Bob Casey is falling right in-step with the Obama-Reid agenda, just as he did in 2009.

“It’s time for Bob Casey to put aside party labels, break ranks from the Obama agenda and co-sponsor bipartisan legislation that will fully repeal the preventative services mandate and put a definitive end to this destructive measure,” said Republican endorsed Senate candidate Steve Welch. “Only a full-out repeal of the preventative services mandate will preserve our guaranteed religious and individual liberties.”

Republican endorsed Senate candidate Steve Welch calls for Senator Bob Casey to co-sponsor bills to repeal Obama’s Preventative Services Mandate

Republican endorsed Senate candidate Steve Welch

calls for Senator Bob Casey to co-sponsor bills

to repeal Obama’s Preventative Services Mandate

When will Casey act to protect the religious liberty of thousands of Pennsylvanians?

Paoli, PA – In an Obama administration move that forces religious institutions to violate their principles and severely threatens religious freedoms, liberal Senator Bob Casey has done little to support shocked Pennsylvanians.

The controversial decision mandates religiously affiliated institutions, many of them Catholic universities, hospitals and organizations, provide coverage for birth control and other contraceptive measures. Despite the outrage and anger thousands of Pennsylvanians have expressed, Casey refuses to co-sponsor bi-partisan legislation to repeal this troubling mandate.

Senator Roy Blunt (R-MO) has introduced the “Respect for Rights of Conscience Act of 2011” (S. 1467), a bipartisan piece of legislation that would rescind this immoral mandate and protect Americans’ religious freedom. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) additionally introduced the “Religious Freedom Restoration Act of 2012” (S. 2043) guaranteeing similar protections.

It’s easy for Senator Casey to say he is opposed to a mandate, but when it comes to putting his name on legislation, Casey has yet to fall out of lock-step with the Obama-Reid agenda and co-sponsor either of these bills.

Republican endorsed Senate candidate Steve Welch understands Pennsylvanians’ concerns and not only fully supports legislation to rescind this mandate, but also would also repeal Obamacare, the law that created it.

“The Obama Administration’s recent ruling is very disturbing and frightening,” Republican endorsed Senate candidate Steve Welch said. “If they will force a mandate on the American people that directly violates one of our country’s most sacred principles, what is next? This is just another example of how  Obamacare is an unconstitutional piece of legislation that I look forward to repealing when I get to Washington.”

Like Steve Welch, Pennsylvanians need to start asking when will Sen. Casey put words into action, break with the Obama administration, and co-sponsor legislation that would repeal the Preventative Services Mandate?

“Sen. Casey is  one of the biggest cheerleaders for Obamacare and has supported Obama’s failed policies 98% of the time,” Welch said. “Now it’s time for Sen. Casey to finally put party politics aside and co-sponsor bipartisan legislation that protects the rights of individuals and prevents the federal government from usurping our religious freedoms. I hope Senator Casey does the right thing.”

Bedford County Commissioners Endorse

Steve Welch for Senate

Steve’s momentum continues to grow across the state

Paoli, PA – Today Bedford County Commissioners Kirt Morris and Steven Howsare announced their support of Republican-endorsed U.S. Senate candidate Steve Welch.

Commissioners Morris and Howsare commented: “Bedford County needs jobs.  Senator Casey has sat on the sidelines when it comes to getting the economy going again.  He has voted with the failed policies of President Obama 98% of the time.  Pennsylvania deserves more from their Senator.  Steve understands what it takes to build a company from the ground up.  He understands that centralizing power in Washington as Bob Casey and Barack Obama have done does not help create jobs.  Steve will make the people of Bedford County and Pennsylvania proud.  We are both thrilled to support his senate campaign.”

Mr. Welch added: “Having the support of these two great leaders from Bedford County means a great deal to me.  They are people who care about the future of this country.  They see that the Obama-Casey agenda has failed.  We continue to build a team of people that understand we need to win the hearts and minds of voters in order to bring them into our cause of fighting for a smaller, more limited and more fiscally responsible federal government.”

Senator Casey is Addicted to Washington’s

Culture of Wasteful Spending

Pennsylvania needs a senator who will

join Sen. Pat Toomey’s fight for taxpayers

Paoli, PA – Today, Senate Candidate Steve Welch released the following statement on Senator Casey’s vote against the Toomey-McCaskill Earmark Elimination Act today.

Mr. Welch commented: “Today the United State Senate attempted in a bipartisan fashion to take a major step towards openness and transparency with voting to end the practice of earmarks.  Senator Casey stood in the way.  This shows once again how addicted Bob Casey has become to Washington’s corrupt culture of wasteful spending.  If Casey is unwilling to vote against the most outrageous, the most wasteful, and the most secretive type of Washington spending, then there is no hope that he will ever do what’s necessary to tackle our $15 trillion national debt.  It’s no surprise since Senator Casey has been a prolific Earmarker throughout his time as Senator.  I applaud Senator Toomey for his leadership on this issue. Pennsylvania needs a senator who will join Sen. Pat Toomey’s fight for taxpayers, not one who will cancel out his vote.”

Most important, I want thank the membership of the State Committee.  This was your decision today.  I know you took your job very seriously.  And I greatly appreciate the trust you have placed in me.

Special thanks go to Ethan, Elaine, Wayne, Val, and so many others who have encouraged me every step of the way.

Now, it’s time to unite as a party and as a conservative movement for the very important battle that lies before us.  Our nation and our state are at a critical crossroads.  Too many of our citizens are out of work or struggling to stay in their homes.  When we look at Washington, there’s red ink as far as the eye can see, and career politicians who don’t have a clue about how the job creating private economy works.   That has to change.  It has to change now.  And Pennsylvania can make it happen this year.

In the campaign that lies ahead, I will talk about my vision and values, and I will talk about Senator Bob Casey’s record of failure.

When Bob Casey ran for office, he spoke about bringing an independent voice to Washington.  He talked about balanced budgets and fiscal responsibility.  But under Bob Casey’s watch, we’ve seen the size of the federal government explode.  And he has voted in lock step with the liberals in his party and supported the failed policies of this president 98% of the time.  The bailouts, the health care takeover, the cap and trade job killer, the stimulus spending bill that didn’t create jobs and stuck us with breathtaking levels of debt – Bob Casey voted for all of it.  I won’t ever let him get away with telling Pennsylvanians he’s an independent voice.  Bob Casey is nothing more than a rubber stamp for Barack Obama and Harry Reid’s big government, job killing liberal agenda.

Now, Casey will try to campaign as someone he is not.  I will campaign as who I am.  From the very first day I launched my candidacy, I’ve been completely open with the voters and with the people in this room about my own partisan history.  We have to be honest with ourselves.  In the previous decade, our party in Washington strayed from our conservative principles.  Republicans in Washington let earmarks and spending get totally out of control, and our elected officials got into all kinds of corruption scandals.  Our country and our party paid a price for that.  Right here in Pennsylvania, hundreds of thousands of people left our party because we failed to govern consistent with our core values.  I was one of those people.

But when I took one look at the extreme agenda coming from Obama, Casey, Reid, and Pelosi, I came back to the Republican Party with a vengeance.  But I didn’t just commit to being a Republican.  Partisanship is not what matters most to me.  I dedicated myself to making sure our party never again strayed from our principles.

And I wasn’t alone.  There were thousands more like me, and they gave us the great Tea Party revolution of 2010.  That Tea Party revolution helped elect Tom Corbett to the governorship and Pat Toomey to the US Senate, and it gave our Republican Party victories up and down the Pennsylvania ballot in 2010. That’s the fighting and winning spirit we must take into battle with us this year.

If we stick to our principles of smaller government, more freedom, traditional values, and fidelity to the Constitution, we will not only continue our success in Pennsylvania; but when we beat Barack Obama and Bob Casey this year, we will install our values in the White House and in a new Republican majority in the US Senate.

Second chances in life are a blessing.  In 2010, the people of Pennsylvania gave our party a second chance at governing.  As your US Senate nominee, I will travel to every corner of our state to bring back every one of the voters we lost a few years back.  I will share with them my story.  My story is an American story of starting a small business from scratch, creating good jobs, and helping others to do the same.  America is the most innovative and most productive country in the world.  But it won’t stay that way if Bob Casey and Barack Obama continue to push us toward national bankruptcy.

My friends, the stakes are high.  I am committed to fighting for our cause with every fiber of my being and in every hour of every day from now until November sixth.  But no candidate is ever successful if he’s working alone.  I need the full commitment of each and every one of you.

Together, we will win.  Together, we will make our Republican Party proud.  And most importantly, together we will restore the values that made America the greatest county in the history of the world.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for your endorsement today.  I will make you proud.  Working together, there’s nothing we can’t accomplish.  Thank you and God bless.
